Flights from Paphos to Warsaw via Athens. From the Aegean, also with a dog or cat.

Flights from Paphos to Warsaw via Athens could be an alternative for those preferring to depart from western Cyprus. Aegean Airlines is expected to maintain the Paphos–Athens route in 2027, with two or three flights per week, depending on the season. Onward travel to Poland will be possible on dates when the schedule allows for a transfer.

An additional advantage may be the possibility of traveling with a dog or cat - in the cabin or, in the case of a larger animal, in the appropriate part of the cargo hold. However, before purchasing a ticket, you must confirm that your pet is accepted on both flights. Simply finding a connection for a passenger does not guarantee availability.

Flights from Paphos to Warsaw with a stopover in Athens

The Paphos region's tourism organization, ETAP, announced that the Aegean route will be maintained in 2027. The connection to Athens allows travel both to Greece and beyond via the carrier's main hub.

For people planning a trip to Poland, the following option will be interesting:

Paphos → Athens → Warsaw-Chopin

This is not an announcement of a new direct route. Travel availability depends on the timings of both flights, so you should search for the entire route at once, rather than assuming that every flight to Athens will provide a convenient connection to Warsaw.

It's also worth comparing connections from Larnaca. A shorter journey to Paphos can be an advantage, but this must be weighed against the total travel time and ticket price.

Choose your entire trip on one ticket

It's worth looking for when changing rooms one ticket covering Paphos–Athens–WarsawThis makes travel easier if your first flight is delayed and your onward connection is missed.

Two tickets purchased separately pose a greater risk. The carrier operating the second flight is not obligated to provide a free rebooking if the passenger misses the flight due to a delay on the first flight.

When checking in baggage, you should also check where your suitcase was dropped off. The WAW code on the tag means Warsaw-Chopin. The terms and conditions of the offer you choose should clearly indicate whether the trip requires you to transfer and re-check your baggage.

Dog or cat in the Aegean cabin

Aegean welcomes dogs and cats in the cabin if the animal together with the carrier weighs a maximum of 8 kgThe standard permissible dimensions of the conveyor are: 55 × 40 × 23 cm; some smaller planes have a limit 40 × 25 × 25 cm.

The carrier must fit under the seat in front, and the pet must remain in it during the flight. Therefore, the aircraft type must be verified for both segments.

In the current Aegean table the cabin fare on an international route is 72 euro, for both direct and connecting flights. It should not be automatically calculated as €72 for each leg. The final price for a specific booking should be confirmed by the carrier.

A larger dog or cat can fly in the hatch

Transporting a larger animal depends on factors such as its breed, the carrier, and the aircraft. For international connections with transfers, Aegean currently provides:

  • 120 euro with a total weight of the animal and the carrier above 8 to 25 kg;
  • 190 euro with a total weight exceeding 25 kg.

The transfer time for an animal transported in the hold may not exceed three hours. Therefore, not every connection available to a passenger will be suitable for their pet. The carrier recommends contacting the service center to check availability on connecting flights.

Prepare your documents before booking

In a standard trip from Cyprus to Poland, a dog or cat needs microchip, valid anti-rabies vaccination and EU pet passport.

The first vaccination is given at 12 weeks of age at the earliest, and then you need to wait at least 21 days. In practice, 12 weeks of age alone is not sufficient for such travel.

Before purchasing, it's worth checking the documents with your veterinarian. This will allow you to check the validity of the vaccinations and the accuracy of the entries in the passport.

Flights from Paphos to Warsaw – what to check before buying?

The three most important issues are: one ticket for the entire journey, appropriate transfer time and confirmed pet transportOnly then should the final price be assessed.

Those traveling with pets must also present themselves at the check-in desk for document checks. Aegean requires the pet to be presented at least one hour before departure—this is a strict deadline, so it's worth arriving early.

For residents of Paphos, Peyia, and Polis, the Athens option can be useful, especially if they're looking to travel with their dog or cat and want to depart from an airport closer to home.
