Tax return in Cyprus. Interest-free until November 30th, but there's an important detail.

Tax returns in Cyprus for 2025 will be available until November 30, 2026, without interest or additional financial charges. This requires both filing a tax return and paying the taxes and contributions due. Simply submitting the form will not be sufficient if any outstanding liabilities remain.

However, the formal deadline remains October 31st. The November extension results from a decision by the Tax Commissioner and does not constitute a change to the deadline specified in the regulation. The difference is particularly important for individuals who need confirmation of fulfillment of their tax obligations.

The rest of the article is below

Tax settlement in Cyprus. Who is affected by the decision?

On October 19, the Tax Department announced a decision regarding the individual income declaration for 2025. This concerns the form T.D.1 for natural persons not preparing financial statements.

The office has indicated two obligations that must be fulfilled by the end of November to benefit from the solution:

  • submit an income declaration for 2025;
  • pay the corresponding taxes and contributions.

This decision applies to a specific tax return. It should not be considered a general postponement of all tax deadlines in Cyprus.

Two dates, different consequences

The deadline resulting from the regulation of the Council of Ministers remains set for October 31, 2026The Tax Commissioner, however, decided that interest and financial charges would not be imposed if the indicated obligations were fulfilled by November 30, 2026 inclusive.

Therefore, the information about the "deadline extension" requires clarification. The taxpayer receives additional time without any financial consequences, but the formal deadline remains in October.

According to Commissioner Sotiris Markides' explanation, as reported by Phileleftheros, individuals who postpone filing their tax returns until November will not be considered taxpayers with their tax returns in order during the period of non-compliance. This may prevent them from receiving a certificate confirming such status.

If you need a certificate of compliance with tax obligations, do not assume that the November facilitation also solves this issue.

From November, reopening the declaration may be difficult

The Tax Department also noted the gradual transition to the system Tax For All, or TFA.

As of November 1, 2026, it may no longer be possible to change the status of a declaration from final to provisional. Previously, this mechanism allowed for reopening and editing the form.

This does not constitute a complete ban on correcting settlements. The Office warns of the possible unavailability of a specific system function.

Before finalizing the form, it's worth verifying the data and clarifying any doubts. Additional time to submit the declaration does not guarantee the same procedure for reopening it as before.

Also check your payment before sending

Individuals preparing their own tax returns should ensure that the form has been submitted successfully. It's also worth checking the outstanding amounts.

If an accountant prepares the documents, it's important to determine who is responsible for submitting the declaration and who is responsible for settling the dues. For November returns, both tasks must be completed by the end of the month at the latest.

The most important elements are three: the correct form, effective submission and timely payment.
