A cold night is ahead. Frost is possible in the mountains.
Up to 7°C in the interior of the island, around 10°C on the coast, and just 2°C in the highest parts of the mountains – these are the temperatures forecast for the night from Sunday to Monday, November 8-9. Frost is expected in places in the mountains.
Skies will remain mostly clear, with winds from the north and northeast. Monday will bring sunshine and temperatures up to 21°C at sea. Temperatures are expected to gradually warm up in the coming days, although localized showers are possible mid-week.
The coldest high in Troodos
The Department of Meteorology's evening forecast indicates a distinct difference between the coast and the highest parts of the mountains. Those staying in the Troodos Mountains until evening or planning an early departure should prepare for significantly cooler conditions than at the coast.
The wind will reach mostly 3–4 on the Beaufort scale, initially up to 5 degrees in places. The sea will be slightly to moderately rough.
Forecasted 2°C applies to the highest parts of the mountains, not the entire Troodos region. At the same time, positive air temperatures do not rule out local ground frost.
| Region | Night of November 8–9 | Monday, November 9 |
|---|---|---|
| The interior of the island | 7°C | 19°C |
| Coast | about 10°C | about 21°C |
| The highest parts of the mountains | 2°C, local frosts | 10°C |
Monday sunny but with a cool start to the day
On Monday, November 9, will be mostly sunny. There will be more high clouds at times, without the precipitation predicted in this forecast.
The temperature will rise to 19°C in the interior of the island, about 21°C on the coast and 10°C high in the mountainsThe difference between night and day will therefore be felt, especially inland.
The wind will be mainly northeasterly or southeasterly, with a force of 3-4 Beaufort, occasionally reaching force 5. Sea conditions should calm down somewhat in the afternoon.
Monday night into Tuesday, it's expected to remain mostly clear, with occasional increases in cloud cover. Winds will weaken, though they will remain moderate in places.
When will the rains return?
On Tuesday, November 10, partly cloudy skies are forecast. Isolated showers are possible on Wednesday, mainly in the mountains.
On Thursday, locally increased cloud cover may bring scattered showers around noon. Precipitation is expected to affect mainly mountainous areas and the interior of the island; the forecast does not predict all-day rain in all regions.
The temperature will gradually rise. On Thursday it should approach values typical for this time of year.
The coming night will require warmer clothing even outside the mountains. A sunny afternoon doesn't guarantee a warm evening, so if you're planning a longer outing, it's worth considering the temperature drop after sunset.
