Ryanair check-in starts 72 hours before your flight. What about your seat number?
Ryanair's free check-in is available from 72 hours before scheduled departure, even without purchasing a specific seat. The extension of the current 24-hour window is confirmed in the airline's terms and conditions and help center.
However, early check-in may not guarantee prior seat assignment. Fly4free claims that with free seat assignment, passengers are only informed of their seat location 24 hours before travel. This detail has not been clearly confirmed by verified Ryanair information.
Free Ryanair check-in - now three days early
Passengers using random seating can begin checking in online up to three days before departure. The deadline remains unchanged: formalities must be completed no later than two hours before scheduled departure.
This also makes it easier for those traveling between Poland and Cyprus. Instead of waiting until the last day, you can complete the required information and check-in in advance.
Passengers who have purchased a specific seat can still check in up to 60 days before departure. Free allocation does not allow for seat selection.
What exactly does Fly4free claim?
According to Fly4free, the new rules apply from November 3, 2026. The portal states that it has confirmed this date with the carrier.
The editorial team also reports a significant restriction: check-in between 72 and 24 hours before the flight will be possible without revealing the seat number. Passengers using a free seat assignment would only be informed of their seat number on the last 24 hours before travel.
This information was provided by Fly4free. Section 6.2.3 of the regulations itself confirms a check-in window of 72 to two hours before departure, but it doesn't clarify whether the seat number is displayed immediately or later.
The information in the carrier's help is inconsistent
Ryanair's Help Center confirms that you can check in 72 hours before your flight without reserving a seat. However, the seating section also includes answers describing an earlier, 24-hour window.
This discrepancy alone doesn't confirm the mechanism Fly4free describes. The older fragment may simply not have been updated yet.
Therefore, it is worth separating two issues: the earlier opening of check-in is confirmed, while the later disclosure of the seat number remains the information provided by the portal.
Parents with children have separate rules
Random assignment may mean separating adults traveling on a single reservation. However, it shouldn't be assumed that every family has to pay extra for a child to sit next to a guardian.
Current regulations stipulate that children aged 2 to 11 years will be seated free of charge next to an accompanying adult from the same reservation. Other adults and teenagers may be seated separately.
Another change from November 10th
The extension of online check-in times does not change airport service times. From November 10, 2026, Ryanair check-in and baggage drop desks will close 60 minutes before scheduled departure, instead of the current 40 minutes.
The hour before departure is the check-in deadline, not the recommended arrival time at the terminal. Checking in earlier through the app does not exempt you from the obligation to check in your bag and arrive at the gate on time.
