Flights to Cyprus in 2027. Airlines want to develop connections despite rising costs

Flights to Cyprus in 2027 have growth prospects despite rising fuel prices and uncertainty in the aviation industry. After more than 30 meetings with carriers, Hermes Airports has announced interest in expanding its route network and extending the winter season.

This is a significant signal for Polish travelers, although no new routes from Poland have yet been announced in this announcement. Poland remains one of Cyprus' most important tourist markets: 41,636 tourist arrivals from Poland were recorded in September, securing third place behind the United Kingdom and Israel.

Flights to Cyprus in 2027 – what do carriers announce?

Representatives from the Larnaca and Paphos airport operators attended Routes World 2026, which took place in Frankfurt from October 21 to 23. Discussions focused on the 2026/2027 winter schedule and plans for the coming years.

Carriers expressed their desire to strengthen their presence in Cyprus, while also citing rising fuel costs, fluctuating demand, and pressure on route profitability.

However, we have to wait for specific schedules. The interest in market development does not yet mean confirmation of new routes, additional frequencies or lower ticket prices.

Tourists are booking later and later

One of the issues discussed during the meetings is the shortening time between booking and travel. More and more passengers are purchasing tickets only three to four weeks before departure.

According to the operator, this phenomenon occurs in many markets. It makes it difficult to predict demand and make decisions about the number of flights and aircraft utilization. Cyprus's recognition in individual countries and fluctuations in interest on specific routes are also significant.

What does tourist traffic from Poland look like?

The latest available monthly data from the statistical office allows for a comparison of September 2026 with the same month last year.

Tourist arrivals from Poland to Cyprus
Indicator Result
September 2025 45 019
September 2026 41 636
Year-on-year change −7,5%
Participation in arrivals in September 2026 7,2%

This represents 3,383 fewer arrivals than the previous year. However, Poland retained its third position among Cypriot tourism source markets.

The data concerns tourist arrivals by country of residence, not all passengers on Poland-Cyprus connections. They are also not unique numbers: subsequent trips by the same person can be recorded separately. The 2027 Outlook announcement did not provide a separate breakdown of air traffic from Poland.

Fewer passengers in October

Larnaca and Paphos airports handled around 1.43 million passengers in October, down around 3% from a year earlier.

The forecast for 2026 is around 13.3 million passengers. This would be about 3% lower than the record-breaking figure of 2025. Airport statistics include both arrivals and departures, so they cannot be directly compared to tourist arrivals.

For travelers, the most important thing now will be the specific decisions made by carriers. Only published schedules will reveal which declarations will translate into a wider choice of flights and longer availability of connections outside the summer season.
