Internet in an apartment in Cyprus. Fiber optic or a router with a SIM card?

There are several ways to connect your rental apartment in Cyprus to the internet: via fiber optic or other cable connection, a wireless internet antenna, or a router with a SIM card using 4G/5G networks. The choice depends on the address, length of stay, and what you need the connection for.

One option is BlueNet, which offers BlueFiber fiber optic and wireless internet, as well as Polish-language service. This company doesn't require a lease agreement. It's also worth checking out CYTA, Primetel, Epic, and Cablenet, comparing the full cost, availability, and terms of each service.

The rest of the article is below

First check the address, then choose the package

Before ordering, please provide the operator with your exact address, apartment number, and building location. Availability in a given location does not necessarily mean that every apartment can be connected.

Ask your landlord if the apartment previously had a working connection, what devices are left, and whether they allow cable or antenna installation. Don't order another installation until you've determined what's already available.

For mobile internet, check the signal inside your apartment, preferably in the evening. The coverage shown on the operator's map doesn't guarantee identical speeds in every room.

BlueNet and BlueFiber - Polish-language service and less formalities

BlueNet can be a convenient choice for those who want to arrange installation and subsequent support in Polish. An additional convenience for tenants is that they don't need to present a lease agreement.

Packages are available on the operator's website BlueFiber:

  • 200 Mb/s download and 60 Mb/s upload - 30 euros per month;
  • 500 Mb/s download and 120 Mb/s upload - 45 euros per month;
  • 1000 Mbps download and 240 Mbps upload - 85 euros per month.

These offers include installation 50 euro, no transfer limits, and the slogan "No contract." Before ordering, it's worth confirming the cancellation policy, equipment settlement, and final startup costs. The lack of a time commitment still means using the service under the specified terms.

BlueNet offers BlueFiber fiber optic throughout Cyprus and installs wireless internet in the Paphos and Polis areas. Connection availability and the availability of the selected package must be confirmed at the specific address. The company provides services in Polish and does not require a lease agreement.

Wireless internet - antenna on the building, router in the house

BlueNet also offers wireless internet. An antenna mounted on the building receives the operator's signal, and a cable delivers the connection to the apartment. The home router then provides access via Wi-Fi or cable.

This solution differs from cellular internet with a SIM card. It requires checking the technical conditions and antenna installation location.

On the BlueNet website, monthly radio packages start from 15 euros for 15 Mb/sThe radio installation was priced separately at 99 euro, and the Wi-Fi router on 40 euroThese costs should not be confused with BlueFiber installation.

CYTA - Fiber Optic or Mobile Internet Home

CYTA offers both fiber optic and Mobile Internet Home, i.e. internet via a cellular network with a 5G router.

The published Mobile Internet Home offer includes variants up to 50 and 100 Mb/s for respectively 35 and 39 euros per month, with an additional installment for the device 10 euros per month for 24 months. This gives a total of 45 or 49 euros per month for the first two years.

The service comes with a 24-month commitment, and the device is assigned to a specific installation area. Before ordering, please confirm the availability of these options—the website also includes a note about packages currently unavailable for sale.

CYTA distinguishes this service from portable Mobile Broadband. A home router using a cellular network does not necessarily mean that the internet can be freely taken to any address.

Primetel - Plug n Play via 4G

Primetel publishes an offer Plug n Play Broadband with a router and a 24-month contract. Basic options include:

  • 19.90 euros per month: up to 20 Mbps and 150 GB at full speed;
  • 24.90 euros per month: up to 40 Mb/s and 200 GB;
  • 29.90 euros per month: up to 60 Mb/s and 350 GB.

The device costs 49.90 eurosAfter using up the data package, the speed drops to 1 Mb/s download and upload until the end of the month.

This is important for watching online TV, downloading games, or working with large files on a daily basis. Access advertised as unlimited may still have a full-speed transfer limit.

Epic - Broadband HomeBox without cable

Epic Broadband HomeBox allows you to use the Internet without a fixed line and installing a cable to your apartment. The operator publishes variants for 20, 60 and 200 Mb/s, subject to availability at the address.

There is a promotional price on the website 19.99 euros per month for the first 12 months, then 29.99 euros, and a one-time connection fee 49.90 euros.

You should check the fair usage policy. Once the service's bandwidth limit is exceeded, the speed is throttled to 2 Mb/sEpic offers paid full speed restoration packages, as well as fees for early termination and failure to return equipment.

Cablenet - landline internet and mobile offers

Cablenet offers landline internet and mobile packages, including: 5G Unlimited for 15 euros per monthA mobile package can be an interesting option when looking for a cable-free connection.

Before purchasing a card for your home router, however, you must confirm that your chosen plan allows this type of use and that the device is compatible with your operator's network. A mobile data plan should not be confused with a dedicated home internet service with a router included.

Cablenet also emphasizes the importance of device compatibility, coverage, and a fair use policy. Router costs should be included separately if not included in the offer.

Three ways to connect to the internet
Solution How does the signal arrive? What to check?
Fiber optic or other cable connection Through the cable to the premises Availability in the building, assembly, upload, contract and equipment
Internet radio To the antenna on the building, then via cable to the router Acceptance conditions, installation consent and installation costs
4G/5G router with SIM card Via the mobile network Range in the apartment, limits, router compatibility and address assignment

What to choose for a rented apartment?

For longer stays and intensive internet use, it's worth starting by checking your fiber optic connection. For shorter leases, cancellation policies and the ability to transfer service are crucial.

BlueNet can simplify formalities thanks to its Polish service and the lack of a rental agreement requirement. A cellular router, on the other hand, can enable connection without installation—provided a good signal and an appropriate tariff.

Compare total cost of the entire stay: subscription, installation, purchase or installment of the router, and possible termination of the contract. For remote work, also inquire about upload speeds, the possibility of using a company VPN, and the availability of a public IP address.

Before paying for your order, please request written confirmation of the price, specifications, start date, and termination policy. Promotional offers are subject to change, and advertised maximum speeds do not guarantee identical results at every address.
