Information about violence in Polish educational institutions also appeared in the foreign sections of Cypriot portals.

The initial report, based on information from the Greek news agency and RMF FM, cited seven injured people. Later reports from Polish services and the Polish Press Agency (PAP) indicated nine people were injured.

On Thursday, SigmaLive reported another incident: the death of a 37-year-old employee of a primary school near Wyszków and the arrest of a 15-year-old former student.

Tragedy in Leszczydół-Nowiny

The fatal attack occurred on Thursday, October 8, at around 9 a.m., during a lesson at the primary school in Leszczydół-Nowiny.

According to police, a 15-year-old graduate of the school entered the building and attacked a school employee with a sharp object. A teacher was also injured.

The director heard the noise, came out of his office, and intervened. He subdued the attacker and then handed him over to the officers who had been called. He also sustained injuries.

Despite resuscitation efforts, the 37-year-old janitor could not be saved. The circumstances of the incident and the teenager's motive are under investigation.

Nine people injured in Ostrołęka

The day before, on Wednesday, October 7, a 19-year-old student attacked people at the Vocational School Complex No. 4 in Ostrołęka and nearby.

According to PAP, nine people were injured: five students, two teachers, and two bystanders. The injured were taken to hospitals in Ostrołęka and Łomża.

The attacker fled but was apprehended by police near the city beach, a few hundred meters from the school.

Some reports cite ten injured people. This includes the attacker, who suffered self-inflicted injuries. The Masovian Voivode reported on Wednesday that the lives of the nine people attacked were not in danger.

What happened in the three towns?

Ostrołęka, October 7: Nine people were attacked and injured. Police arrested a 19-year-old student.

In Sierpc, they managed to react earlier

In Sierpc, intervention was prompted by information provided by students. They informed the teacher that their 17-year-old friend was planning to do something bad at school. The teacher reported the matter to the police.

Officers arrested the teenager at his apartment on Wednesday morning, October 7. During a search, they seized a wallet containing two knives.

Police also checked the detainee's phone. According to an official statement, they found a search history of information regarding the planned attack. The investigation includes further actions and witness interviews.

The Sierpc case demonstrates how important a quick response to threats can be. Information was passed from students to teachers, and then to officers, who detained the teenager before the planned incident.

Urgent meetings and inspections at schools

Following the events in Mazovia, Prime Minister Donald Tusk called an urgent meeting on Thursday devoted to school safety.

The ministers responsible for internal affairs, education, digitalization and health, as well as the coordinator of special services and the chief commander of the police, were summoned.

The Mazovian education authority announced a meeting with schools on Friday regarding safety procedures. Police have also begun preventive inspections in the vicinity of the facilities.

Although the events occurred in rapid succession, they should not be treated as a single, confirmed, coordinated act. The circumstances of each case require a separate investigation.
