A Weekend in Cyprus: Chocolate in Platres, Comic Con and Village Festivals

A weekend in Cyprus will bring plenty of opportunities to get out of the house. On Saturday and Sunday, October 3rd and 4th, you can head to the Chocolate Festival in Platres, Cyprus Comic Con in Nicosia, outdoor gear shows in Limassol, or traditional cuisine and crafts events in smaller towns.

This is also the final weekend of this year's Limassol Wine Festival. Many events are free, but when planning your trip, it's worth taking into account local rainfall and storm forecasts and checking the organizers' latest announcements.

Chocolate weekend in Platres

Pano Platres invites you to the second edition of the Chocolate Festival. Local confectioners, handmade sweets, chocolate fountains, and hot drinks will be on hand.

The program also includes workshops and activities for children, music, and dance performances. So, weather permitting, you can combine the tastings with a family walk through the mountain village.

Cyprus Comic Con in Nicosia

Comics, cosplay, games, cinema, and meet-and-greets with creators will fill the Cyprus State Fair grounds in Engomi. Announced guests include Callum Kerr, known for his work in "ONE PIECE," and Clive Russell from "Game of Thrones."

Next to the halls there is an outdoor area with music, food and performances. On Saturday and Sunday, the Outdoor Festival has free admission, while entry to the halls requires a ticket. Selected events and attractions may be billed separately.

Outdoor and Wild West in Limassol

The Great Outdoor Event will bring together exhibitors related to off-road vehicles, camping, cycling, water sports, diving, and fishing. Equipment presentations, demonstrations, and family activities are planned.

It will have a different atmosphere Cyberness Wild West Market in Kolla. Local artists, food stalls, music, and workshops will be featured in a Wild West-inspired space. The event is also pet-friendly.

Pottery in Kornos

Kornos invites you to the 13th Red Clay Festival. This is an opportunity to learn about the crafts for which the town has been famous for generations.

The program includes potters' demonstrations, workshops, exhibitions, traditional food, and music. Instead of just seeing finished pottery on the store shelf, you can see how it's made.

Sunday in the wine villages

IN Agios Mamas There will be a celebration of Commandaria and grape must products. Guests will be able to sample palouzes, meet local producers, and visit the local museum and winery.

Koilani invites you to the Afamia Festival, marking the end of the grape harvest. The program includes local wines, palouzes, traditional crafts, and zivania distilling demonstrations.

On the other hand Potamiou is organizing a Wine and Gastronomy Festival. In addition to tastings, there will be workshops on preparing traditional products, music, and dancing.

The last evenings of the Wine Festival

The Limassol Wine Festival concludes on Sunday, October 4th. The Municipal Garden welcomes guests. from 7:00 p.m. to midnight.

Free buses from Nicosia, Larnaca, Ayia Napa, and Paphos have also been announced for this weekend. These buses require advance booking, so be sure to check availability before traveling.

How to plan a weekend in Cyprus?

For a family outing, you can choose Platres, Kornos, or Comic Con. Those interested in food and local traditions have several options in the Limassol region on Sunday. End the evening in Kolla or at the Wine Festival.

However, it's not worth trying to visit everything in one day. It's better to choose one main event and leave time for a walk and a leisurely meal. Before leaving, check the weather and organizers' announcements—especially for outdoor events.
