The weather in Cyprus is changing. Rain and storms, with more severe weather expected on Wednesday.
The weather in Cyprus will begin to change on Sunday, October 11. Localized rain and isolated thunderstorms are possible from midday, primarily in the mountains, north, and in some areas of the island's interior. It will remain warm, with temperatures reaching 29-30°C on the coast and around 32°C inland.
Localized rainfall may also return on Monday and Tuesday. A more significant decrease is forecast for Wednesday, October 14. In the evening, rain and thunderstorms are expected to affect the western part of Cyprus, where the phenomena may be intense or prolonged in places.
Weather in Cyprus on Sunday. Where could it rain?
On Sunday, more clouds will appear at times. From the afternoon hours, they may bring isolated showers and locally a thunderstorm.
Rainfall is forecast primarily in the mountains and north of the island. Some inland areas are also possible. The south and east coasts are not considered the main areas for precipitation.
This does not mean all-day rain across the entire island. Rainfall will be localized, so conditions may vary significantly between locations. When planning a Sunday trip, it's worth checking the forecast for a specific location, especially if your destination is the Troodos Mountains.
Still warm. Up to 30°C on the coast
Increased cloud cover won't immediately bring a noticeable cooldown. Maximum temperatures are forecast to be around:
- 32°C in the depths of the island,
- 30°C on the south and east coast,
- 29°C on the west and north coast,
- 22°C in the highest parts of the mountains.
The wind will be light to moderate, mostly force 3-4 on the Beaufort scale. The sea will remain calm or slightly rough.
Dust may remain in the atmosphere periodically until Sunday, especially over the eastern half of Cyprus.

Monday and Tuesday with local rainfall
Monday, October 12, and Tuesday, October 13, will be mostly sunny in most areas, with periods of increased cloud cover.
Isolated showers or thunderstorms are possible in the afternoon. Again, this is mainly affecting the mountains, north, and some inland areas.
Temperatures are not expected to change significantly until Wednesday and will remain close to typical values for this part of October.
The weather will deteriorate further on Wednesday
Wednesday, October 14, is expected to be mostly cloudy. Localized showers and possible isolated thunderstorms will gradually develop, initially along the west and north coasts.
A more significant deterioration is forecast for the evening. Rain and thunderstorms are expected to occur especially in the western half of the island. They may be intense in places or persist for an extended period.
Those planning travel or outdoor activities on Wednesday should check back for further updates. The exact extent and timing of precipitation may change.
