OnlyFans in Cyprus. Is the island really the platform's world capital?

OnlyFans in Cyprus is growing on a scale that may seem surprising. According to a recent report, there are approximately 3,850 female creators for every 100,000 women – more than in any other country included. This data was widely reported in the media and led to the island being declared the "OnlyFans capital of the world."

The problem is that the ranking cannot be independently verified. OnlyFans does not publish data on the number of creators in each country, and the authors of the ranking did not provide a precise methodology. However, it likely illustrates a real phenomenon: Cyprus has become a popular base for foreign women and men earning money from online adult content.

Cyprus was supposed to overtake the whole world

The ranking was published in June 2025. It was prepared by Supercreator, a company offering tools and services for people active on OnlyFans.

According to the data presented, Cyprus was to receive approximately 3,850 platform creators for every 100,000 women.

This would mean that almost 3.85% of the island's entire female population – including children and the elderly – has accounts on OnlyFans.

The result immediately attracted media attention, with headlines including the Cyprus Mail and Fast Forward, and the news was later shared extensively on social media.

There were no men in the ranking

This is one of the biggest limitations of the entire list.

OnlyFans isn't just a platform for women. It also features men creating content for women, couples running joint accounts, and men creating content primarily for other men.

This latter segment of the market may be particularly underrepresented in statistics based solely on the number of female creators. Meanwhile, male profiles have their own audiences, agencies, promotional models, and recognizable creators.

One of them was Riccardo Staudt, who performed under the pseudonym Noah Segsy. The German creator amassed over 200,000 followers on social media and was known primarily among gay audiences.

Staudt's ties to Cyprus were not limited to personal matters. According to foreign media, in 2023 he founded a company with an address in Paralimni.

His story shows why a ranking based solely on women cannot describe the entire industry operating on the island.

Number 3850 has a serious problem

In August 2026, Fact Check Cyprus investigated the matter. The review revealed that the original work could not be found on the Supercreator website.

The initial media release contained only a brief note that the study examined the number of OnlyFans creators per 100,000 women. However, it did not explain where the data was obtained or what criteria were used to assign creators to specific countries.

Therefore, it is not known whether the following were taken into account:

• domicile,
• citizenship,
• tax residence,
• registered company address,
• location provided in the profile,
• or the place from which the account was managed.

Moreover, the ranking only covered 19 countries. Therefore, calling Cyprus a leader "worldwide" is a bit of a stretch.

Are there really 18,000 female creators on the island?

A simple calculation shows the scale of the doubts.

According to the 2021 census, approximately 472,000 women lived in the areas controlled by the Republic of Cyprus. If we were to use the indicator of 3,850 creators for every 100,000 women, we would get more than 18,000 people running OnlyFans accounts.

This would be approximately one in 26 women on the island – regardless of age.

There is no official data to support such a high figure. Fact Check Cyprus therefore found the popular narrative about Cyprus taking first place misleading and lacking necessary context.

This does not mean, however, that the entire phenomenon was invented.

It's probably mainly about foreigners

In an interview with Cyprus Mail, former Cypriot creator Georgia Yiokka assessed that a significant part of the industry is made up of foreigners, not local women.

She pointed primarily to people coming from Germany and the UK who live or operate in Limassol and Paphos. Local artists, on the other hand, are more likely to hide their faces due to the reactions of the relatively small and conservative population.

If Supercreator has indeed identified a large number of accounts linked to Cyprus, some of them may belong to people who are not citizens of the island and do not necessarily live here year-round.

They may have a company, tax residence, rental property or business address in Cyprus.

Why do OnlyFans creators choose Cyprus?

The island has several features that may attract people who make money creating content online.

The first is the climate. Photographs and recordings can be taken outdoors most of the year. Beaches, swimming pools, luxurious villas, and the Mediterranean landscape provide an easily accessible visual backdrop.

The second element is the large short-term rental market. Apartments and villas with pools are available not only during peak holiday season but also in the off-season.

The international community is also important. European Union citizens can relatively easily relocate to the island and establish a business here.

Taxes remain another argument. Until the end of 2025, the basic corporate income tax rate was 12.5 percent. From 2026, it was raised to 15 percent, but the system may still be attractive to some entrepreneurs running digital businesses.

This doesn't mean that every creator automatically pays 15% tax. The final tax rate depends on factors such as the type of business, tax residency, income level, and payment method.

Adult material was even filmed in Kourion

Cyprus isn't just used as a place to register companies and settle online income. Photos and videos are also taken here, sometimes in places where they definitely shouldn't be taken.

In July 2024, a scandal erupted after the release of an erotic film recorded at the archaeological site of Kourion near Limassol.

According to Cypriot media, two people were involved in the recording – one of Polish origin and the other of Ukrainian descent. Some headlines identified them as Polish adult film actors, but their origins were not presented uniformly across all publications.

The film was allegedly shot on the grounds of the ancient theater without the consent of the Department of Antiquities. The footage was subsequently posted online and discovered by Cypriot authorities.

The Director of the Department of Antiquities, Giorgos Georgiou, deemed the incident a breach of the security of a protected facility. The Department sent a letter to the police, demanding an investigation into the incident and the possibility of criminal prosecution.

It has not been confirmed that the Kourion video was created specifically for OnlyFans. However, the incident demonstrates that attractive Cypriot locations are also being exploited for commercial production of adult content.

Cyprus also attracts companies from the industry

OnlyFans is not the island's only connection to the adult content market.

The Cyprus Mail notes that Cyprus also has a presence of companies providing technological, marketing, and organizational services for this industry. Companies operating on large international adult websites are also associated with the island.

Agencies are also emerging to manage creator accounts. They may be responsible for marketing, publishing content, messaging, audience acquisition, and sales analysis.

One profile can therefore encompass activities involving photographers, cinematographers, editors, social media specialists, accountants and people managing paid accounts.

Noah Segsy's death reveals another connection to the island

Riccardo Staudt, known as Noah Segsy, drowned on August 24, 2026 in the swimming pool of an apartment complex in the Famagusta district.

Cypriot media initially reported only the death of the 22-year-old German citizen. They did not provide his name or information about his activities.

Only over two weeks later did foreign websites reveal that the deceased was a popular creator of adult content. His case also drew attention to men operating on the platform and producing content for a male audience.

Not every profile contains erotic material.

OnlyFans is widely associated with adult material, but the platform is not limited to it.

Accounts are also run by trainers, musicians, influencers, models, chefs and people who publish content only available to paying customers.

However, it's the erotic segment that generates the most media attention and some of the highest revenue. It's this segment that has made the platform's name recognizable worldwide.

Therefore, when talking about people running OnlyFans in Cyprus, we cannot automatically assume either the nature of their content, the gender of the creators, or the audience to which it is addressed.

The OnlyFans Capital of the World? We Don't Know

Is Cyprus really number one in the world?

Based on the available data, this cannot be confirmed.

OnlyFans does not publish statistics by country. Supercreator did not disclose the methodology behind its ranking; the ranking itself covered only 19 countries and included only women.

The number of 3,850 female creators per 100,000 women should not therefore be presented as an official and indisputable fact.

However, we can say something else.

The island has a significant community of foreign men and women creating adult content. There are also companies serving the industry, and the climate, real estate, and business environment make it easy to run a digital business.

So Cyprus may not be the proven “OnlyFans capital of the world.”

However, it has undoubtedly become one of the places where the industry has found exceptionally favorable conditions for operation.
