The new Pame App will show you live bus routes. Traveling around Nicosia and Larnaca will be easier.

Pame App has undergone a major upgrade. The Cyprus Public Transport app now makes it easier to plan your trip, find the nearest stop, check the estimated bus arrival time, and track its location on the map. The solution primarily covers public transport in Nicosia and Larnaca.

Passengers can also specify their desired arrival time. The Pame App will suggest a route, taking into account transfers, and indicate when to begin their journey. They can also top up their plastic Motion Travel Card with cash or a season ticket using their phone.

Pame App will show the bus on the map

One of the most useful features is the ability to track buses in real time. After selecting the appropriate route, passengers will see the vehicle's location and estimated arrival time at a specific stop.

This is intended to reduce one of the biggest problems for public transport users – the uncertainty of whether the bus has already departed, is delayed, or is just approaching the stop.

However, please note that the live information displayed depends on data transmitted by the vehicles. Due to location or internet connection issues, the bus's current position may be temporarily unavailable.

You can plan the time of arrival at your destination

In the updated app, you can specify your departure and destination. The system will suggest available routes, necessary transfers, and approximate travel times.

Planning by expected arrival time can be particularly useful. Users enter their desired arrival time at work, school, the office, or the airport, and the app calculates the appropriate departure time.

Pame App also allows you to:

• checking full timetables,
• viewing the course of individual routes,
• searching for the nearest stops,
• checking estimated arrival times,
• planning a trip with transfers.

You can top up your Motion card by phone

The app allows you to top up your plastic Motion Travel Card. Users don't need to visit a service point or purchase a voucher at a kiosk.

This feature applies to reusable cards. Single-use paper smart cards cannot be reloaded. However, plastic Motion cards can be topped up with funds or a corresponding season ticket.

The application itself is free and available for Android and iOS devices.

The interface is available in English, Greek, Spanish, French, and Portuguese. Currently, the app does not have a Polish language version.

Pame App does not support all of Cyprus

This is an important caveat. The app supports the Cyprus Public Transport network, primarily buses operating in Nicosia and Larnaca.

It should not be treated as a single system covering all urban and intercity transport carriers on the entire island.

There are different operators in Limassol, Paphos, and the Famagusta district. Intercity connections are also managed separately. Each carrier has its own websites, timetables, and passenger tools.

Before traveling between different regions, it is worth checking which operator serves your chosen route.

Over 12 million passengers

The new version of Pame App was presented at an event at the University of Cyprus, organised before the start of European Mobility Week.

Cyprus Public Transport announced that it will carry over 12 million passengers in 2025. Since May 2024, more than one million people have used the operator's buses each month.

In a survey conducted by the company, passenger satisfaction reached 79.7 percent. At the same time, approximately one in six comments or complaints concerned insufficient information. The app's expansion aims to address this very issue.

Stops and stations are also to be changed

The Ministry of Transport has announced further modernization of transportation infrastructure. The program includes at least 3,000 new or renovated bus shelters.

There are also plans to reconstruct the main railway stations, develop the Park and Ride system, create bus lanes, bicycle routes and safer sidewalks and pedestrian crossings.

The new Pame App is therefore one element of a larger program of changes to public transport. However, for passengers in Nicosia and Larnaca, the most important feature remains the ability to check where their bus is and when it will actually arrive at its stop.
