Tomasz Stockinger arrived in Cyprus at the beginning of 2022. One of the most recognizable Polish actors came to Limassol as a special guest of the 30th anniversary Grand Finale of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity.

His Cypriot visit didn't end there, however. A few days later, Stockinger visited the Polish School in Cyprus in Limassol. He spoke with the students about films, acting, his interests, and life behind the scenes.

The 30th Grand Finale of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity took place on January 30, 2022. The Orchestra raised money to ensure the highest standards of vision diagnosis and treatment for children.

The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity also played in Cyprus.

One of the most important Polish guests at the finals held in Limassol was Tomasz Stockinger. His participation was announced in early January.

The organizers had planned a special role for him. The actor was to host a raffle and auction during the event.

It was also a very unusual finale. Pandemic restrictions were still in place in Cyprus. Attendees had to adhere to SafePass guidelines, masks were required, and seating was provided during the concerts and auction.

Some of the events from Limassol were also broadcast on the Internet.

A few days later he visited the Polish School in Cyprus

On February 2, 2022, Tomasz Stockinger visited the Polish School in Cyprus in Limassol.

The students prepared many questions for him. They were interested in the films and TV series he had appeared in, the behind-the-scenes of his work, and stories that happened off-camera. The conversation also touched on his passions and interests.

Stockinger especially encouraged young Poles to play tennis. He also spoke about working on oneself and developing memory through appropriate exercises.

The meeting ended on a uniquely Cypriot note. The actor received a gift: a statue of Aphrodite—one of the island's most recognizable symbols.

Poles know him primarily from "Klan"

Tomasz Stockinger has been one of the most recognizable faces of Polish cinema and television for decades.

He began his film career in the late 1970s. He has appeared in films, TV series, Television Theatre and on stage.

However, his greatest television recognition came from his role as Paweł Lubicz in the series "Klan", in which he joined the cast in 1997.

His credits also include roles in such productions as "The Quack", "The Twenties... The Thirties..." and the much later "365 Days".

Stockinger is also a singer

Acting is not the only artistic side of Tomasz Stockinger.

In 2005, he released the album "Melodią zwrotsz do mnie" (You Come Back to Me Melodią). Around the same time, he also recorded a cover of Seweryn Krajewski's song "Pogoda na szczęścia" (Weather for Happiness) with Kaja Paschalska.

This is an interesting detail also from the perspective of the Cypriot history of Polish artists.

Kaja Paschalska has also appeared in Cyprus at events for the Polish diaspora. In 2020, she was a guest at the 28th Grand Finale of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity in Limassol.

Two years later, her TV series father came to the island.

A few days with the Polish community in Limassol

Tomasz Stockinger's visit shows that Polish artists' stays in Cyprus often extended beyond a single event.

First there was the anniversary finale of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity in Limassol.

Later came a meeting with students from a Polish school, conversations about acting, sports and life, and a typical Cypriot gift.

For children studying thousands of kilometers away from Poland, it was an opportunity to meet an actor who has been watched by generations of Polish viewers for years.

And for Stockinger – a few days spent not only in Cyprus, but above all among the Polish community living here.
