Below you will find a complete list of public hospitals in the Republic of Cyprus. Public healthcare is available to individuals with a valid European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) during their temporary stay on the island.

EHIC in a public hospital
The European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) provides medically necessary treatment under the same terms and conditions as those insured under the Cypriot public system.
The EHIC does not replace the insurance policy
The card does not cover private medical treatment, planned treatment abroad, or the cost of medical transport or repatriation to Poland. It's advisable to have additional travel insurance.
Take your documents
When registering, please present a valid European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) and your ID card or passport. Without the card, the facility may require payment; in an emergency, you can apply to the National Health Fund (NFZ) for a replacement EHIC certificate.
Important: assistance in a public emergency department costs 10 euros per visit.
There is a €10 registration fee for reporting to the Accident & Emergency Department (A&E/ED) of a public hospital. The European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) does not waive this fee.
What to do after arriving at the hospital?
- In case of emergency, follow the signs Accident & Emergency / A&E.
- Please prepare your European Health Insurance Card, ID document, list of medications you take and information about allergies.
- If the situation is not urgent, call the facility or your insurer first.
- Keep your bills, payment receipts, prescriptions, and medical records.

Private hospitals and the European Health Insurance Card
The EHIC does not cover treatment in the private healthcare system. If you choose a private hospital or clinic, you may be charged the full cost of the consultation, tests, procedure, and hospitalization.
Before using a private facility, contact your insurer to check whether they require prior authorization, designate a specific hospital, or arrange cashless payment. In a life-threatening emergency, don't delay calling for help because of paperwork.
