Paphos Aphrodite Festival: Traffic changes and free parking

The Paphos Aphrodite Festival means special traffic arrangements in Kato Paphos today and Saturday. From 6:00 PM, drivers heading towards the port will be directed through checkpoints, and only those with a ticket to the show or a special pass will be allowed to continue towards the marina.

The city has also prepared several parking lots for participants, as well as alternative parking spaces for those without tickets. These designated parking lots will be free from 6:00 PM until midnight. The festival itself kicks off on both Friday, September 4 and Saturday, September 5, at 7:30 PM in the square in front of the Medieval Castle in Paphos.

Inspections from 6:00 p.m.

Traffic control and management points will operate in three locations in Kato Paphos:

• on Apostolou Pavlou Avenue, at the roundabout next to Kings Avenue Mall,
• at the intersection Poseidonos Avenue with Papias Afroditis,
• on Poseidonos Avenue near the Almyra Hotel, at the intersection with Iasonos Street.

From these points, further driving towards the port will only be permitted for those with a Paphos Aphrodite Festival ticket or pass.

The city asks drivers to display their ticket or pass in a clearly visible place behind the windshield.

Where will people with tickets park?

Depending on the type of ticket, participants will be directed to one of the prepared parking lots.

Among other things, the following will be available:

• parking lot at Paphos Archaeological Park,
• the area near the restaurant Hondros,
• parking lot behind the buildings Cyprus Ports Authority,
• open area at the Visitor Centre of the archaeological site, on the site of the former Kyklos gallery.

Parking will be in designated areas free from 6:00 p.m. to midnight.

No ticket? Two different parking lots.

People who go to Kato Paphos in the evening, but they do not have a ticket or pass to the festival, should not try to drive directly to the port.

The city provides two alternative parking lots:

• by Municipal Beach SODAP on Poseidonos Avenue,
• by Apollonos Street, near the Kato Paphos cemetery.

Parking there will also be free from 6 p.m. to midnight.

Cars blocking the passage will be removed

Drivers must follow the instructions of the police, municipal road services and temporary signage.

At the same time, the city warns that vehicles obstructing safe and free passage may be removed without prior warning.

This year's 24th Pafos Aphrodite Festival presents Gaetano Donizetti's opera "L'Elisir d'Amore" ("The Love Potion") performed by the Armenian National Academic Opera & Ballet Theatre with the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra. Performances will take place on September 4 and 5 at 7:30 p.m. Ticket prices range from €35 to €150, and subtitles in Greek and English will be available.
