Larnaca Ships Open to Visitors. Board on October 1st

The two ships in Larnaca will be open to visitors on Thursday, October 1. In the port, you will be able to visit the Cypriot patrol vessel "Ioannidis" and the Greek frigate "Nikiforos Fokas". Entry times are scheduled between 10:00–14:00 and 16:00–19:00.

The event is part of Independence Day celebrations and offers residents and tourists an opportunity to see vessels from both navies up close. Security checks will be in place at the port entrance, so please allow extra time for boarding.

What ships will you be able to visit?

The Ioannidis is a high-sea patrol vessel belonging to the National Guard Naval Command. The second vessel to be deployed will be the Nikiforos Fokas, a frigate of the Hellenic Navy.

These are normally military vessels that the public doesn't have free access to. Thursday's event will offer a closer look and introduce us to vessels usually only seen from the shore or in photos.

The National Guard has not provided a detailed tour itinerary, so it is unclear which rooms will be accessible or how long each unit will take to visit.

Ships in Larnaca - visiting hours

The organizers have planned two time slots. Between them, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., there will be a break in admitting the audience.

The official announcement did not specify a specific entry gate or provide information on pre-registration. Nor were any entry fees published. However, it did confirm that security procedures applicable to ports in the Republic of Cyprus will be followed upon entry.

Visitors should follow the instructions of port staff and crews. It's worth arriving with plenty of time, especially if you're planning a visit towards the end of one of your tours.

Independence Day Event

The deployment of units in Larnaca is one of the proposals for Bank Holiday Thursday. The main state ceremonies, including a military parade, will take place in Nicosia.

A visit to the port will allow you to see the naval part of the armed forces. The ships in Larnaca will only be available during the announced hours, so before leaving, it is worth checking whether the organizers have published additional tips for visitors.
