The largest book festival in Cyprus. Over 18,000 books and free admission.
Over 200 authors, over 100 booths, and over 18,000 books – this is what Nicosia Book Fest 2026 promises. On Saturday and Sunday, October 10-11, Acropolis Park in Strovolos, Nicosia, will be filled with books, literary events, and family-friendly activities. Admission is free.
The main part of the festival will be open on both days from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. The official opening will take place earlier, on Friday, October 9th, at 7:00 p.m. Spain is the honorary country of the eleventh edition, and the program also includes events conducted in English.
Nicosia Book Fest 2026: Books, Authors and a Few Stages
The festival, organized since 2016, combines a book fair with cultural events. Publishers, bookstores, authors, organizations, and educational institutions will be present at booths.
Organizers announce over 200 authors and over 18,000 books. Visitors will be able to purchase publications, talk with the authors, and participate in presentations, discussions, and workshops.
The program is spread across several spaces: the main stage, the literary and children's stages, the "Analoyio at the Park" space, and the Spilies room. Events will be held concurrently, so it's worth selecting interesting events in advance.
Spain is an honorary country
Friday's opening night will be dedicated to Spanish literature and culture. The program also includes a flamenco performance.
Spanish accents will be present throughout the weekend, with events related to Federico García Lorca, literature, and Spanish history, among other topics.
On Sunday at 7:30 PM, there will be a screening of the film "La lengua de las mariposas," known in Polish as "The Language of Butterflies." The film is based on a short story by Manuel Rivas.
Meetings also in English
Much of the program is conducted in Greek, but English-speaking people will also find something for themselves.
On Saturday at 6:25 PM, the literary stage will host a meeting with Spanish writer Elena Medel, focusing on her novel "The Miracles." The event will be conducted in English.
On Sunday at 6:00 PM, an English-language event will be held with writer and illustrator Zeina Abirached. The conversation, focusing on "The Piano Oriental" and "The Game of Swallows," will explore identity, memory, bilingualism, and the experience of living in divided cities.
A family weekend among books
A separate stage, readings, and workshops are available for children. On Saturday, at 12:00 PM, there will be an interactive workshop called "The Miracle You," and at 2:45 PM, there will be activities for children and parents on diversity and stereotypes.
On Sunday at 11:45 a.m., storytelling will be combined with robotics and themes of acceptance and belonging. Book readings will also be held on a specially prepared bus throughout both days.
Before choosing an activity, it's worth checking the language, age group, and program details. There will also be a food court on site, so you can plan your visit for a few hours.

Will we find books in Polish?
The published program and exhibitor list do not include a Polish bookstore, publishing house, or stand. Nor was there any announcement of a meeting with a Polish author.
However, this does not necessarily reflect the offerings of all bookstores. The organizers do not provide a complete catalog of books sold at individual stands, so individual Polish-language publications may appear.
If you find Polish books or other Polish accents during your visit, please let us know. And for those looking for books in their native language, we remind you of the Polish exchange points and library operating on the island.
