LOT's promotion today, and the industry is warning: Flight prices may increase.

Today, we reported on LOT's Crazy Wednesday and flights to Larnaca from PLN 659 round-trip. At the same time, the airline industry is warning of price increases in 2027. The reasons include expensive fuel, the situation in the Middle East, and the gradual expiration of safeguards that protected carriers from some of the price increases.

Ryanair CEO Michael O'Leary estimates that ticket prices in Europe could rise by as much as 20%. This is a market forecast, not an announced increase for all routes. For travelers between Poland and Cyprus, this means greater uncertainty about the cost of next year's trips.

Promotions still happen, but line costs are rising

One-day sales and warnings about higher ticket prices can occur simultaneously. Airlines set prices based on demand, competition, travel dates, and remaining capacity. Selected flights may therefore be promoted even when the carrier's operating costs are rising.

Today's LOT Crazy Wednesday includes selected trips to Larnaca from November 16, 2026 to March 31, 2027The action is in effect November 4, and the number of places is limited. While checking the offer, we found direct connections from Warsaw for 658.65 PLN round trip.

When planning a trip, it is therefore worth separating a specific price opportunity from forecasts for the entire market.

Ryanair warns of price increases in 2027

Michael O'Leary suggests that European airfares could rise by 10-20%. He points primarily to higher fuel bills and limited capacity on some carriers.

In its results statement on November 2, Ryanair explained that it had secured approximately 80% of fuel at around $67 per barrel by March 2027This ensures that current results are partially protected from market fluctuations.

The situation will change as cheaper hedges expire. At current futures prices, the carrier estimates its fuel bill will increase by approximately €2 billion in fiscal year 2028, covering the period from April 2027 to March 2028.

At the same time, Ryanair's average fare fell by 4% in the most recently reported six months. Therefore, the announcements of future increases do not mean a uniform price increase, which has already occurred on all routes.

Why might fuel prices increase with a delay?

Carriers use financial protections that limit the impact of fuel price fluctuations on some future purchases. However, these solutions are valid for a limited period and do not cover all fuel consumption.

As earlier protections expire, a larger portion of costs becomes dependent on newer, potentially higher prices. Therefore, the impact of expensive fuel may not be felt by passengers for several months.

Not all airlines are in the same situation. They differ in their level of security, cost structure, routes, and ability to raise fares.

Lufthansa raises spending forecast

The Lufthansa Group predicts its fuel bill in 2026 will be 9.3 billion euros. That's about 600 million euros morethan expected three months earlier.

The Group also narrowed its adjusted operating profit forecast to a range of €1.7 billion to €2 billion. The previous upper bound was €2.2 billion.

At the same time, Lufthansa announces that it has secured approximately 86% of its passenger airlines' fuel for 2026 and over 60% for 2027. Cost pressure is therefore real, but its scale also depends on the level of protection a given carrier has.

What does this mean for flights to Cyprus?

Hermes Airports indicates that the airline's operating cost increases may gradually be passed on to passengers. However, final prices will still depend on demand, available seats, and competition on individual routes.

There was no single increase announced covering all flights to Larnaca and Paphos. There is also no basis for automatically adding the projected 20% to each ticket between Poland and Cyprus.

When comparing flights, it's worth considering the full cost of the trip: luggage, seat selection, airport transfers, and any transfers. The lowest starting price doesn't always mean the cheapest trip.

High percentages require careful comparison

Publications about price increases also include data on a 39.2% price increase for budget airlines. This data is based on an analysis of a specific group of carriers and a comparison of May 2026 with May 2025—not all tickets currently available.

The study was based on average prices converted to dollars, excluding taxes and fees. Therefore, this indicator cannot be considered a direct increase in the final price of each ticket purchased in zloty or euro.

Carrier warnings don't guarantee when a specific ticket will be cheapest. With fixed travel dates, it's worth monitoring the full cost of the connection and the fare conditions, rather than making a decision solely based on price increase announcements.
